Highly Publicized Attacks Demonstrate Importance of Data Protection

Colleges and universitites as well as businesses are currently attempting to develop new data protection methods.

A recent report from SummitDaily.com found that businesses have been more aggressive in their data protection efforts due to the highly publicized hacking attacks and outages at Sony, Amazon and other global companies.

The report highlighted the actions of colleges and universities attempting to train data protection workers to combat hackers and other cyber criminals. Additionally, businesses are updating their security capabilities to avoid data loss and potential fines for failing to comply with HIPAA or other state and federal regulations.

According to the news provider, Jerry Del Valle, a trained IT security professional, is one of many attempting to develop new ways of protecting enterprise networks. Staying ahead of cyber criminals has proven difficult for most. However, proactively defending systems and adopting new solutions and protocol is the only way companies can ensure data protection.

Even as businesses struggle with data protection, the federal government has revealed some problems of its own. Last week, the Pentagon reported it suffered a massive breach in March. The incident compromised the email addresses of thousands of federal employees.
