Sunnyvale, Calif. – January 7, 2009 – Proofpoint, Inc., the leading provider of unified email security, archiving and data loss prevention solutions, today announced it has appointed Wade Chambers as VP of Engineering and Jay Kane as VP of North American Sales. Chambers will lead Proofpoint’s product development strategy and work directly with customers on aligning features and functionality to meet their needs. Kane will direct the company’s North American sales efforts, working closely with the company’s channel partners to further extend Proofpoint’s domestic market reach.

Most recently, Chambers served as VP of Engineering for Platforms at Yahoo!. In that role, he led engineering organizations to develop, test and deploy more than 200 releases for various Yahoo! Entertainment and Lifestyles properties. These releases represented more than 100 million unique users and billions of page views on a monthly basis, resulting in close to $100 million dollars in revenue. Chambers also helped define Yahoo!’s Open Strategy, leading a team to build the initial version of the Yahoo! Application Platform.

Prior to joining Proofpoint, Kane was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Oakley Networks, Inc., a division of Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems. He was responsible for both the federal and commercial sales teams, bringing in over $21 million in revenue and closing multi-million dollar deals with companies such as Best Buy and Bank of America.
