Microsoft SharePoint Integration and Governance
Microsoft SharePoint is a powerful, collaborative tool for organizations. Proofpoint Enterprise Governance enables enterprises to increase that power through proactive in-place management to monitor and track information stored in Microsoft SharePoint—bridging the gap between centralized repositories, scattered shared drives, and desktops.
Microsoft SharePoint Integration and Governance Key Capabilities:
- Tracking and Propagation: Proofpoint Enterprise Governance can track and monitor all files placed in Microsoft SharePoint. Because of the patented Digital Thread technology, file classification propagates as files move into and out of Microsoft SharePoint.
- Direct Conduit: Proofpoint Enterprise Governance is a direct conduit to Microsoft SharePoint files. Users can be given permission to view specified folders in Microsoft SharePoint from an intuitive and integrated Proofpoint Enterprise Governance user interface, and they can be given the ability to upload files to Microsoft SharePoint and delete files, both from the user interface. Further, Microsoft SharePoint permissions such as read only and contribute only still apply to Proofpoint Enterprise Governance users.
- Autotag Folders: Files in Microsoft SharePoint can be classified by saving them to Autotag folders in Microsoft SharePoint or by selecting a classification in the Proofpoint Enterprise Governance user interface.
- Reporting: Metadata about files tracked in Microsoft SharePoint can be aggregated into a global report for administrators to view. Information such as classification, age, modified date, and file location path can be found in these reports.
