Proofpoint has announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft to utilize Microsoft Azure for future innovations in cybersecurity. This collaboration aims to enhance threat detection and data protection through a human-centric security approach, providing organizations with stronger capabilities against evolving cyber risks.
The use of Azure's artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure is set to facilitate Proofpoint's goal of improving operational efficiency and data security for joint customers. Recent reports indicate that most publicly reported data breaches stem from human-centric compromises, reinforcing the need for these enhancements.
Darren Lee, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Proofpoint's Threat Protection Group, emphasized that the partnership is intended to empower users in the digital workspace, providing robust security measures. Microsoft Corporate Vice President Kathleen Brown noted that Azure's infrastructure supports security vendors in adapting to changing security needs.
Proofpoint plans to integrate its services into Azure, notably using its Nexus intelligence technologies to bolster detection and neutralization of risks. Solutions are projected for rollout by Q2 2025, with immediate availability of some API-driven security measures today.
The collaboration will also extend protections via Microsoft 365, improving email security and risk management practices, while seamlessly integrating Proofpoint's threat intelligence into Microsoft Sentinel for enhanced visibility and incident response capabilities.
