I am pleased to announce that Proofpoint’s acquisition by Thoma Bravo was completed today. We first announced the proposed deal back in April, and Proofpoint shareholders agreed to the transaction last month with regulatory approvals following.
We are incredibly excited to begin this next chapter in Proofpoint’s journey by leveraging Thoma Bravo’s significant experience in the technology space – most notably its deep cybersecurity expertise and overall approach to value creation.
As you might imagine, I’ve been working closely with the Thoma Bravo team to ensure a smooth transition. From our many meetings, I can assure you they are committed to building on what we’ve accomplished, and while working together, we look forward to propelling Proofpoint’s growth and innovation as a private company. Bottom line: This is a tremendous opportunity for us and for our customers.
What does this mean for our employees and stakeholders? It means business as usual with our continued focus on delivering a world-class customer experience. This is not an ending, but rather an evolution that will give us the freedom and flexibility to increase our people-centric offerings that prevent, defend against, and respond to today’s cyberattacks. Everyone following the news understands threat actors are not going anywhere. Neither is Proofpoint.
Finally, I’d like to take a moment to thank our incredibly talented team members, whose dedication and hard work have contributed to Proofpoint’s success and have allowed us to achieve the incredible milestone of being part of the largest software take-private deal of all time. This milestone is squarely due to the collective efforts and support of our employees, partners, and valued customers over many years, and we look forward to the exciting path ahead.
