Aspial has long been an industry leader. The company was the first public-listed jewellery retailer on the mainboard of Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (SGX-ST). Aspial has also extended its operations into other lines of business. These include real estate, hospitality, financial services and precious metal trading.

Each day, a flood of critical business data passes through the company’s cloud-powered infrastructure and communications. The company needed to protect that data—and improve the governance and security of its cloud applications. So Aspial began exploring a variety of cybersecurity solutions. The Solution

Protecting Sensitive Internal Data and Cloud-Powered Applications

Working closely with WEYX Solutions, the Aspial IT team considered multiple vendors through a proof of concept (POC). Aspial also looked at analyst research to find the best solution based on features, integration and stakeholder needs. WEYX Solutions recommended Proofpoint Cloud App Security Broker (CASB) and Proofpoint Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

“Proofpoint was a good fit for several reasons,” said Lee Howe Goh, Managing Director at WEYX Solutions. “Proofpoint CASB provides a comprehensive approach to cloud security. This includes visibility, control and protection to safeguard against cloud-based threats and malware. And it can integrate with Aspial’s existing security infrastructure. What’s more, it’s compatible with a wide range of cloud applications and endpoints.”

To prevent data exfiltration and leakage, the Proofpoint Endpoint DLP solution offers advanced features, such as machine learning-based detection and remediation. The solution also helps the organization ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Phai and his team deployed the solution fast, and the company saw benefits almost immediately.

“It took a few months to complete deployment and training for Proofpoint solutions,” said Phai. “A memorable moment was when the team successfully detected and prevented a major data breach early during deployment, highlighting its value.”

Aspial uses Proofpoint CASB and Endpoint DLP to monitor and control cloud application usage, prevent data leaks, enforce compliance and detect insider threats. Each day, the solution helps the team monitor user activities and manage cloud security policies. Aspial also uses the solution to regularly review its policy effectiveness, generate compliance reports and refine data protection strategies to adapt to evolving threats.

“We have reports generated automatically by the system, and every month we review them with management,” said Phai. “These reports help our leaders understand the value of the solution.”

Since deploying the solution, Aspial has unlocked a variety of benefits. The team has gained enhanced visibility into cloud applications. They can also identify and respond to threats faster. This reduces the risk of data breaches and helps the security team work more effectively.
