State of the Phish 2023

Threat Report

2023 State of the Phish: Europe and the Middle East

Every year, threat actors look for new ways to outwit victims and bypass defences. As you might expect, different languages, cultures and levels of digital maturity mean some places are more vulnerable than others.

For our ninth annual State of the Phish report, we’ve put together in-depth regional summaries to explore how local nuances affect gaps in end-user awareness, resilience and risk.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Of all EMEA countries, Swedish organisations were the most likely to suffer a successful phishing attack, at 94%.
  • The Netherlands was the most targeted for cyber attacks by both insiders (86% vs 66% global average) and outsiders (84% vs 68% global).
  • Only 35% of German organisations train their employees on insider threats.
