Proofpoint Nexgate and Hootsuite See Joint Customers Triple in Growth

Integrated social media solution drives worldwide growth, paves the way for expanded relationship and technology offerings for security, compliance and social archiving

SUNNYVALE, Calif., – June 4, 2015 – Proofpoint, Inc., (NASDAQ: PFPT), a leading next-generation security and compliance company, today announced that its Nexgate social media security division and social media leader, Hootsuite, have gained significant momentum in the last 12 months. The two companies have experienced more than 300 percent growth in joint customers for social media management and security.

“We customized an enterprise social media solution, that works best for our needs, by utilizing the combination of Hootsuite’s social media monitoring and integrated compliance capabilities from the Proofpoint Nexgate suite,” said David Wade, chief information officer for Primerica. “The level of security and compliance, which Proofpoint Nexgate provides for brand protection, made us confident in our decision.”

Worldwide customer growth spans North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific across key verticals including education, financial services, utilities, consumer packaged goods, retail, media, technology and legal. The Proofpoint Nexgate partnership with Hootsuite provides several key technology integrations, which are driving success with more than 60 customers including William Blair, Epson, Interactive Brokers and more.

“The joint customer growth with Proofpoint Nexgate in the last 12 months demonstrates need for a solution that combines social media compliance, policy management and security,” said Kevin Zellmer, Global Director Enterprise BD for Hootsuite. “This tremendous customer growth proves that organizations need a best-of-breed solution to help them safely and compliantly achieve maximum social media growth, ROI and scale. Proofpoint Nexgate provides a unique solution that enables our customers to meet the demand for both security and compliance in one platform.”

The current Hootsuite-complementary capabilities from Proofpoint Nexgate include account discovery with fraud detection, anti-hacking with Proofpoint Nexgate ProfileLock, application control to enforce publishing via Hootsuite, and automated anti-spam, malware and abusive content control. The deepest integration is apparent during the Hootsuite publishing workflow—Proofpoint Nexgate content control verification performs a seamless pre-check on all postings.

With this pre-publishing verification, Hootsuite customers have access to Proofpoint Nexgate’s Deep Social Linguistic Analysis (DSLA) content classifiers to ensure compliance and reduce risk beyond what manual, keyword and dictionary driven systems can do. These classifiers examine more than 120 categories of content. This includes comprehensive and distinct policy coverage for compliance and regulatory standards such as ABA, DPA, FCA, FDA, FFIEC, FINRA, FTC, HIPAA, PII, PCI, SEC, and more.  With DSLA technology integrated into the core Hootsuite platform, customers can pre-check brand-generated social content for risks, mistakes and compliance violations prior to publishing across social media platforms, making the secure delivery of branded content easier than ever before.

In Q3 2015, Hootsuite and Proofpoint Nexgate joint customers will have access to the new Proofpoint Nexgate SocialPatrol™ Archive solution. This dedicated social archive adheres to key compliance requirements and will be a feature-set built directly within Proofpoint Nexgate’s SocialPatrol tagging and search interface. The new solution will cover retention, retrieval and review of social media communications for compliance.

“Our research has found that as enterprises rapidly adopt social media as a key channel for marketing, customer service and sales functions, they increase their exposure to cyberthreats, data leakage and compliance violations,” said Ray Kruck, vice president of Business Development for Proofpoint Nexgate. “Our deep relationship with Hootsuite makes it easier for organizations to embrace the dynamic and fast-paced nature of social media while controlling these risks.”

Proofpoint Nexgate solutions ensure compliance and utilize Proofpoint’s market-leading expertise in detecting and stopping advanced malware, advanced persistent threats and phishing propagated through email and social media messaging systems.
