Proofpoint Appoints Bryan Burns as Security Architect

SUNNYVALE, Calif., – January 17, 2013 – Proofpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ: PFPT), a leading security-as-a-service provider, today announced the appointment of Bryan Burns to the position of security architect. Burns formerly held the post of distinguished engineer at Juniper Networks, where he directed the core security technology of that company's intrusion prevention system (IPS) product and architected its next-generation application firewall, among other accomplishments. During his tenure at Juniper he also edited and co-authored Security Power Tools, published by O’Reilly Media.

"Bryan's experience, broad knowledge of the security threat landscape and experience developing game-changing products is valuable to Proofpoint as we execute our mission to protect data wherever it may reside in the enterprise," said Wade Chambers, Proofpoint executive vice president of engineering.

Prior to joining Juniper, Burns managed the security engineering team at NetScreen, where he was responsible for IPS signatures and IPS engine development. Previously, he managed the security applications team at OneSecure, where he was responsible for designing and developing a security management application for the OneSecure IPS product.

Burns attended Oregon State University, where he majored in Computer Science and minored in Japanese.
