New Device Support Module Means New Integration and better visibility and management for Both Companies’ Joint Customers

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – February 27, 2014. Proofpoint, Inc., (NASDAQ: PFPT), a leading security-as-a-service provider, today announced it has joined the  International Business Machines Corporation’s (NYSE: IBM) Ready for IBM Security Intelligence program (RFISI). Proofpoint and IBM also unveiled a new device support module (DSM) that enables information and event integration between IBM QRadar Security Intelligence Platform products and the Proofpoint Enterprise Protection and Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy offerings. The two companies’ product lines complement one another and both are leaders in their respective Gartner Magic Quadrants: Secure Email Gateway for Proofpoint, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) for IBM.

The DSM’s integration capabilities enable security administrators to eliminate silos and get a more comprehensive view of their security posture from a single pane of glass, including alerts related to anomalies and outliers. They can also set policies based on data ingested from the Proofpoint products.

Beyond providing added value to users, the new relationship strengthens ties between the two companies that date back to 2005, when IBM began reselling Proofpoint products to its strategic outsourced customers. IBM Managed Security Services Email Protection, Encryption/DLP and Targeted Attack Protection offerings are powered by Proofpoint. IBM also offers a Managed SIEM service for QRadar and other leading platforms, which futhers the synergies of this integration and partnership between the companies.

Close Collaboration for Ensured Compatibility
Proofpoint and IBM worked together closely to develop the DSM that enables the integration between their products, including the ability to ingest Proofpoint data in a widely-used syslog format. Collaborative testing of the DSM as part of the RFISI certification process ensured interoperability between the Proofpoint products involved and those of the IBM QRadar family. Specifically, the DSM supports all QRadar 7.1 and 7.2 releases, and both the virtual and physical configurations of Proofpoint Enterprise Protection and Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy.
