Essentials Filter Bypass with .eml or .msg File Attachments

Proofpoint Essentials contained a vulnerability in the scanning engine that allowed certain blocked filetypes to bypass customer created filters when embedded in an attached .eml or .msg attachment. A fix has been deployed. End users should be advised to approach any emails with .eml or .msg attachments received prior to September 23, 2021, with caution. No further action is required.
