Proofpoint Celebrates Q1 Results Amidst Strong Market Demand for Human-Centric Security

Protecting the human layer has never been more top of mind. That’s apparent in every conversation I have had with our customers in my first six months as Proofpoint CEO. And while Gartner has identified human-centric security as one of only three strategic imperatives for CISOs in 2024 and 20251, protecting against human risk has been our core mission for years.

Today, we are proud to serve over 500,000 customers globally who have entrusted us to protect their people and defend their data.

On a Mission to Protect the World’s Most Security-Conscious Organizations

We delivered strong results in the first quarter of 2024, showing tremendous business momentum, with new and existing customers adopting our full stack of human-centric security solutions, across our strategic threat protection and information protection solutions. Notable highlights include:

  • We had a strong Q1 with revenues and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) up in the mid-teens.
  • We added new customers, with over 440 new organizations entrusting Proofpoint as their cybersecurity partner of choice in Q1 2024.
  • We continued to see great market validation of our offering with a healthy customer retention rate of 92%.

We are proud to have been recognized for our product leadership and excellence in corporate vision.

Our leadership in the DLP space was called out by analysts too, with Proofpoint the only evaluated vendor to be recognized with a Customers' Choice distinction, which highlights vendors who meet or exceed market averages for Overall Experience and User Interest and Adoption Recognition in the 2024 Gartner® Peer Insights™ Voice of the Customer for Data Loss Prevention.

Proofpoint’s leadership in threat protection was also endorsed as Overall Leader in KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Email Security report, achieving a "Strong Positive" rating in all categories including Product Leader, Innovation Leader, and Market Leader.

Finally, Proofpoint was recognized in Comparably’s 2024 quarterly Best Places to Work Awards in multiple prominent categories, including Best Company Outlook, Best Global Culture, Best Engineering Teams, Best Sales Teams, and Best HR Teams, with employee ratings highlighting Proofpoint’s positive company outlook and exemplary functional departments.

Welcoming New Team Members

We hire the most innovative talent in the world to help defend our customers’ sensitive data and intellectual property from threat actors. We welcomed hundreds of new employees in the first quarter, including the talented team members at Tessian following the closing of the acquisition, and continued our global expansion with a new center of excellence in Cork, Ireland.

Q1 also saw us welcome new executives to our leadership team—Kim Sullivan joined us as Chief People Officer, Rohit Dixit was appointed as Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer and Satya Jena joined Proofpoint as Senior Vice President, Digital Platforms.

Human-Centric Security Innovation Takes Center Stage

One of our core strategic goals for 2024 is to expand our Human-Centric Security and Information Protection platforms with further innovations, so customers benefit from the most advanced protection available on the market.

In Q1 2024, we announced the general availability of Adaptive Email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to automatically detect and prevent accidental and intentional data loss over email before it becomes a costly mistake for organizations. Combining Proofpoint's industry-leading threat and data loss protection technology and intelligence with Tessian's AI-powered behavioral and dynamic detection provides now organizations with the most comprehensive defense available against human layer risks.
