A Prominent Life Insurance Organization

The Company
This enterprise organization is one of the largest mutual life insurance companies in the United States. It has more than 15,000 employees in the United States and a network of over 7,000 financial representatives in more than 70 agencies nationwide. And it providesa full range of insurance products and services, including life insurance, disability income insurance, dental and vision.

The Challenge
The organization needed to consolidate its data centers, as it was closing the primary data center that housed the archive. Leading up to the project, the security team realized that moving hundreds of TB of archival data to a new data center wouldn’t be cost effective. Especially when compared to moving it to the cloud, something their existing solution couldn’t do. Also, they needed to be able to capture and archive social media content. The organization also had a requirement to identify Personally Identifiable Information (PII), that may have leaked into the archive, so they could delete it according to policy.

The Solution
With the pending closure of the data center, the company was forced to reconsider their on-premises solution. The team decided to move to Proofpoint Enterprise Archive. They also leveraged the robust review features provided by Proofpoint Intelligent Supervision. This helped support the organization’s compliance and audit processes. Intelligent Supervision streamlined the organization’s complicated compliance work flow. It also supported multiple business units with a single, consistent interface. What’s more, Intelligent Supervision is fully integrated with Enterprise Archive for easy capture, review and reporting. It also allows organizations to employ policy-based controls to capture social content so that it can be managed as any other critical information asset. This provided the company with complete visibility across email, instant messages, collaboration tools and social media.

The Results
Because of implementing these solutions, the company has eliminated the need to manage multiple tools. The team has also become more effective. They can easily identify and route potential compliance policy violations that require further review or escalation. Overall, these archiving solutions save this life insurance company greatly— in time, costs and peace of mind.
