I’m thrilled to share that Proofpoint Aegis threat protection platform was recognized as the AI-based Cybersecurity Innovation of the Year at the annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards. The awards program is conducted by CyberSecurity Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global security market.

Since filing our first artificial intelligence (AI) patent 20 years ago, Proofpoint has been pioneering innovative applications of AI and machine learning (ML) to provide our customers, which include more than 85% of the Fortune 100, with industry-first solutions that address the top cybersecurity risks they face today—from initial compromise by an attacker to lateral movement and data exfiltration. AI and ML are weaved throughout our product suite to give customers complete and constantly evolving protection against a wide range of threats. Today, we harness nearly two decades of AI, ML and data science experience in our AI platform, which powers Proofpoint products to effectively address a broad spectrum of cybersecurity and compliance risks.

The vast amounts of data and security alerts information professionals face every day is staggering, leading to challenges in identifying, prioritizing and remediating potential attacks. Humans can no longer scale to sufficiently secure an enterprise-level attack surface. The integration of AI and ML in Proofpoint solutions reduces the workload on security analysts and CISOs, especially for regulated organizations. AI and ML are integrated in our Sigma information protection platform, and we’re also using ML to classify information to determine which information matters most to protect.

Proofpoint Aegis threat protection is the only AI/ML-powered threat protection platform that disarms today's advanced attacks before they reach users, including business email compromise (BEC), phishing, ransomware, supply chain threats and more. Our massive data set feeds into the Proofpoint Nexus Threat Graph, which enables us to train models to identify behavioral anomalies, unknown senders, uncommon URLs or subdomains, unusual SaaS tenants, semantic deviations and more. Since it has been deployed, we’ve observed a 6x improvement in detection efficacy for invoicing threats, to pick a representative example.

Today, the lab team at Proofpoint spearheads the application of AI and ML across our protection platforms. The team consists of data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers and machine learning operations specialists who are focused on how to best leverage AI and ML to enhance both our product features and augment our workflows.

This is the third consecutive year Proofpoint has been recognized by Cybersecurity Breakthrough. In 2021 and 2022, Proofpoint was named the Overall Enterprise Email Security Solution Provider of the Year. A panel of judges evaluates thousands of nominations based on the following criteria: innovation, performance, ease of use, functionality, value and impact. Our series of wins reflects our market leadership and ability to effectively combat threat actors across the cyber attack chain.
