Conference Preview: Wombat Wisdom 2018

This year’s Wombat Wisdom Conference is just around the corner, and we’d like to share some new event details with you. For the fourth year, we’re bringing together some of the brightest minds in security to share ideas and actionable concepts around the continuous improvement of security awareness and training programs — and adding some new twists.

We hope you’ll join us September 18-20 in our hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center; the conference is open to both customers and non-customers.

Event Preview

Throughout the security awareness conference, there will be plenty of opportunities to network with your peers and have your questions answered by Wombat experts. New for this year is our Knowledge Café; it will be open throughout Wednesday and Thursday for you to meet and connect with members of the Wombat team.

Following are some of the sessions you can look forward to at this year’s event. Please note that the final agenda will include additional customer presentations and panel sessions covering topics such as kick-starting security awareness efforts, learning from mistakes, and continuing to grow and refine cybersecurity education programs.

Highlights: Tuesday, September 18

• Interactive workshop: “Implementing an Effective Security Awareness Training Program: Leaping Tall Buildings in Many Small Bounds.” Presenters: Stefanie Parente, Chief Privacy Officer, Santander Bank, N.A., and Gretel Egan, Brand Communications Manager, Wombat Security, a division of Proofpoint.

• Evening welcome reception: Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center.

Highlights: Wednesday, September 19

• Opening keynote: Gary Steele, CEO, Proofpoint, Inc.
• Wombat product overview: Alan Himler, Director of Product Management, Wombat Security.
• Customer presentation: “Why We Switched from Homegrown Security Awareness Training to a Wombat Solution.” Presenter: Dacia Gilkey, Information Security Officer, Georgia Technology Authority.
• Wombat product overview: “Delivering More Meaningful Content,” Shani Mahler, Product Manager, Wombat Security.
• Attendee appreciation event: Casino Night and prize drawings at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Highlights: Thursday, September 20

• Wombat reporting workshop: Learn how to get the most from Wombat’s advanced reporting capabilities. Presenter: Joe Lipple, Product Manager, Wombat Security.
• 2018 Security Awareness Month planning: Overview of Wombat resources, Gretel Egan, Brand Communications Manager, Wombat Security.
• Closing keynote: “#CISOWisdom, Nation-State Attacks, and Why You Need to Believe in Your End Users.” Speaker: Alan Levine, Security Advisor, Wombat Security.

Tips for Attendees

• If you haven’t signed up for the conference yet, we’ve extended early-bird pricing until August 31. You can register here.
• We encourage you to arrive early on September 18 to take part in our new pre-conference workshop, which gets started at 10:00 a.m.
